ACF 2014 Election Update – Eligible Candidates and Voters

The American Cricket Federation is pleased to advise of the confirmation of eligible candidates and voting members by the independent auditor of ACF Elections, Dr. G.E. Wittenburg, CPA, Senate Distinguished Professor, Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy, San Diego State University.

In this limited election to be held between November 22, 2014 and December 7, 2014, there are just two candidates, each standing for a different post as follows:

Zone 1 (West) League Board Member – an outstanding vacancy

Candidate: Mr. Shantha Suraweera

Mr. Suraweera is currently President of the Orange County Cricket Association, which league he co-founded in 2008. A lifetime spent in playing and organizing cricket, he was initially involved with local clubs and tournaments in Sri Lanka, before co-founding the OCLions CC in 2006. Mr. Suraweera has been actively involved in wider aspects of the game, both as a club captain and as a coach and team manager. He has chaired the OCCA Youth Development Committee since 2010, was coach of the OCLions Youth CC and as a USYCA member has been active in USYCA’s schools program. He has served on ACF’s Advisory & Judiciary Committee as the Hardball League Representative since its inception in 2013.

Director-at-Large – a vacancy created by term-limit rotation: the retiring incumbent, being eligible, herewith offers himself for re-election.

Candidate: Mr. Jagan Jagannathan

Mr. Jagannathan was a founding member of the ACF Steering Committee at its inception, serving as its General Secretary. Upon the incorporation of the ACF and initial elections, he was elected to the Board as a Director-at-Large and subsequently was elected Chairman of the Board. Mr. Jagannathan has proved a highly active force.

Another lifetime cricketer, with Cardinals CC and the Northern California Cricket Association since 1983, he has also been a volunteer umpire, manager, coach as well as an administrator for the California Cricket Academy, a grassroots organization in Cupertino from 2003 through 2012. Prior to US relocation, Mr. Jagannathan cricket experience originated in Chennai, India and continued in Ontario, Canada.

Eligible Voters

Zone 1 (West) League Board Member :  

In this particular election eligible voters are those members in good standing (defined as having an approved application form on file and having paid current membership fees) in the following categories:

  • All League members whose league resides within the Zone 1 boundary.

Director-at-Large

In this particular election, eligible voters are those members in good standing (defined as having an approved application form on file and having paid current membership fees) in the following categories:

  • All Club Members
  • All Individual Playing Members (Men & Women)

All Eligible Voters have received, or will shortly receive a copy of this Notice, to be followed by detailed voting instructions before November 22, 2014. Electronic voting access will be open from November 22nd through closing at midnight, December 7, 2014.
