Durga’s experience began with her own entrepreneurial venture when still in school called DD Sports (1985-1990), a sports shop where she also manufactured her own sportswear range. She then set up the COSMOPOLITON Golf Club PRO SHOP and the PRO SHOP at the COIMBATORE Golf Club. In 1987 whilst in her first year of college she established an advertising agency, DD Advertising (1987) that had branches in Coimbatore, Chennai and Bangalore. She also set up the first rural advertising network with Brook Bond as her client in 1987.
She soon ventured into technology by joining Indigo Technologies, (1994-1998) a company that helped to automate stock exchanges around the world, where she served as Director – US & Europe Business encompassing both Management and sales responsibilities. SSI and NASDAQ acquired indigo Technologies Inc. in 1998
Ms. Das then started Innova Solutions (1998-2000) as Co-Founder and Vice-President of Sales. She helped build it into a leader in providing integrated business solutions. Innova delivered comprehensive end-to-end solutions in three core areas: CRM, e-Business, and m-Business. Innova rapidly grew to a team of 250 people in a little over two years and was quickly acquired by Ness Technologies in 2006.
From there, her career took her to NetScaler (2000-2003) as Director of Business Development and Channel Sales where she was responsible for building and managing a channel partner program. NetScaler was acquired by CITRIX in 2006.
She partially moved to India in 2005 to help set up a financial services company for India Cements in a BOT model.
Ms Das was one of the Co-Founders and COO at Paypod, (2005-2008) a multi channel, multi – format new media advertising platform. During this time, the same group also built Knibble – a casual gaming platform that was recently acquired by FX Labs in December 2007. PayPod has since merged with a larger NY based Ad Agency.
Her most recent accomplishment was with vMobo Mobile, (2008-2012) as Co-Founder and Senior Vice-President of Global Sales and Marketing. vMobo delivers a mobile direct marketing platform and offers services to clients in India and Dubai.
Durga brings to Das Star an amazing wealth of experience from years of managing successful startups. A continuous initiator of revenue generating concepts, she possesses an innate understanding of the market pulse at ground level. All her previous companies have been successfully acquired; a testimony to an amazing track record of her strengths in creation, management and development of valuable startups.
When not hitting homeruns in the business world, Durga hits sixes and fours playing for the U.S. Women’s Cricket Team. An active world traveler, she can also be found in some remote corner of Africa hunting tigers (with a camera), smelling coffee beans at her resort in South India or visiting friends in Paris or Rio de Janerio. Durga, a Rotarian, is also a passionate golfer and an avid sailor. She rides a Harley Fat Bob on weekends and long rides with her brotherhood to clear her mind.
Durga has an impressive record of serving the sport of cricket at different levels throughout her 20-year association with the game. More recently, she was the captain of the USA Women’s team in 2010 that won the ICC Americas Cup, and a player on the 2011 US national team in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier in Bangladesh. Durga is well-respected and admired in cricket circles around the world.
